What was the hardest part in preparing for med school? The hardest part of preparing for the medical school process for me was definitely taking the MCAT!! I took the MCAT a year earlier than most other applicants in my cycle because I was just way over-eager to jump into the med school application process, and it bit me in the butt. I wish I had done better, but I went ahead and applied with my score and still got accepted!! However, my lower score definitely made me feel a little self-conscious and negative during the cycle.read other replies on this topic
How much did you work while going through pre-med?I didn't work a whole lot while doing pre-med, which worked great for me because I was able to put all my focus in my studies and graduate with a 4.0. However, during my senior year, I got a job as an ER scribe, an experience that helped me tremendously with interviews!!read other replies on this topic
What did you do for MCAT preparation?I did not take a course, but I was given some Kaplan books from a friend. I studied all of those and took a bunch of practice tests. I studied pretty much 8-9 hours a day, from May to September.read other replies on this topic
How much did you shadow physicians?I shadowed several physicians in various fields at a nearby hospital. Probably over 200 hours with maybe 20 different docs.read other replies on this topic
How much did you volunteer?I definitely have a good amount of volunteering, but probably could've done more. Most of my volunteering was in the form of tutoring or hospital desk person.read other replies on this topic
What clinical exposure did you have?LOTS of clinical experience through being a CNA and an ER scribe.
