How much did you work while going through pre-med?I really worked a lot during my pre-med years. I started as a clinical research assistant doing drug studies on sleep disorders patients and grew that into being a full-time sleep medicine technologist and working additional part-time jobs in lab management and drug study consulting.read other replies on this topic
What did you do for MCAT preparation?I used the Kaplan coursebook and studied independently, 8 hours a day for two weeks. I think taking the course probably would have benefitted me more, but I got into a great school that I think I will be able to make a significant contribution at.read other replies on this topic
How much did you shadow physicians?I shadowed a neurologist/neuroradiologist/sleep medicine specialist for 6-8 hours a week for 6 months. Lots of great experience and connections.read other replies on this topic

What clinical exposure did you have?With my background in sleep medicine, I was able to be a clinical assistant once a week for 6 months. It was volunteer experience, but I was able to take histories and work with the attending to make a differential, order tests, and plan treatment. Great fun, and it sealed the deal for me becoming a physician. I also have 4 years of sleep medicine technology experience in direct patient care and lab supervision.read other replies on this topic
